ABOUT MISSPRINT WORKSHOP
Missprint Workshop is an artist-run RISO print studio in Brooklyn focused on posters, zines, editions, workshops, and beautifully imperfect printed things.
Founded by Venezuelan-born designer and artist Nicasio Andrade, Missprint brings together professional design experience, print experimentation, and a love for bold graphics, strange color, and happy accidents. After moving to New York over a decade ago, Nicasio first encountered RISO in 2016 at the School of Visual Arts, later continuing to print and experiment at EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in Manhattan.
The studio grew out of years of working between design, art, and print — including more than eight years as a senior graphic designer in WWE’s creative department, creating high-impact visuals for large-scale entertainment campaigns.
Missprint is built as a place to print, learn, gather, and make things that feel alive: a little precise, a little messy, and better because of it.
WHAT IS RISO?
RISO is a stencil-based printing process that works a little like screen printing, but inside a fast digital duplicator. The machine creates a stencil called a master, wraps it around an ink drum, and pushes soy-based ink through the stencil onto paper. Each color is printed separately, one layer at a time.
That layering is where the magic happens: bold color, texture, overlaps, tiny shifts, and imperfect registration. No two prints are the same — and that’s the point.
